NYC publishes data about restaurant inspections, but I find their website frustrating to use, particularly on mobile. They publish all the data as a 120 MB CSV, and taking just the useful columns for me, normalizing the data then applying columnar layout and compression, it gets down to 2 MB, of which 1 MB provides a searchable summary of every restaurant and details that can be downloaded on demand.
Then adding MapLibre, OpenFreeMap, and Fuse.js to a static site makes for a much faster and more responsive website for looking up details.
A friend once told me about a tool he built to filter restaurants by just the inspection violations he cared about, so I also added that here.
